Celebrating Our Beloved Pujya Dattaji’s 84th Birthday – 84 Years of Divine Blessings

Jaya Guru Datta 🌺

With profound gratitude, devotion, and reverence, I join devotees around the world in celebrating the 84th Birthday of our beloved Sadguru, His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji.

As I reflect on Swamiji’s extraordinary life and boundless grace, I am reminded daily of the countless ways He continues to guide, inspire, and uplift us. Through His divine bhajans that soothe the soul, the wisdom shared through SGS Posts, His teachings, humanitarian work, and His ever-present blessings, He remains a beacon of light for devotees across the world.

Here in Trinidad and Tobago, we are especially blessed by His divine presence through sacred gifts such as the majestic 85-foot Lord Hanuman Murti and the holy Aripo Datta Ganga. These are more than landmarks; they are living symbols of Swamiji’s vision, compassion, and desire to bring spiritual upliftment to humanity. Every visit, every prayer, and every moment spent in these sacred spaces serves as a reminder of His grace and the transformative power of faith.

As a family, one of our greatest blessings has been the opportunity to introduce our children to Swamiji’s teachings and mission. We remain deeply grateful that we were able to take the kids to the DYC Ashrama, allowing them to experience firsthand the peace, devotion, discipline, and spiritual energy that surrounds Swamiji’s work. In a world filled with distractions, giving them the opportunity to connect with such a sacred environment is a gift we will always cherish. These experiences help plant seeds of faith, service, respect, and devotion that can guide them throughout their lives.

What makes this year’s celebration even more remarkable is an extraordinary Panchanga occurrence that reminds us that some events are far beyond mere coincidence. As explained by Vid. Shekhara Avadhani Somayaji, the exact five Panchanga elements present on Swamiji’s birth day, 26 May 1942, have repeated on 26 May 2026.

To have all five align once again after 84 years, during Adhika Jyeshtha Maasa, is truly a rare and remarkable occurrence. Adding to its significance, this day marks the completion of the 1008th month since the advent of our Pujya Dattaji, with the 1009th month commencing thereafter. For devotees, this is not merely a coincidence but a beautiful reminder of the divine nature of the Guru’s presence and the grace that continues to flow through His mission.

As I reflect on my own spiritual journey, I recognize that many moments of strength, clarity, comfort, and inspiration have come through Swamiji’s blessings. His teachings continually remind us that true spirituality is lived through humility, compassion, service, gratitude, and unwavering faith in God.

Today, I offer my humble pranams at His lotus feet and pray for His continued health, strength, and blessings upon all beings.

Happy 84th Birthday, Beloved Swamiji.

Thank you for your divine guidance, your sacred bhajans, your wisdom-filled SGS Posts, your endless compassion, and your constant presence in the lives of devotees everywhere. Thank you for creating sacred spaces, nurturing future generations, and reminding us that the Guru’s grace knows no boundaries.

May we always remain worthy of your blessings and continue walking the path you have illuminated for us.

🙏 Sri Guru Datta 🙏

Celebrating 60 Years of Avadhoota Datta Peetham

On May 5, 2026, devotees around the world celebrated a truly special milestone — the 60th anniversary of Avadhoota Datta Peetham. This remarkable occasion marks six decades of spirituality, devotion, service and compassion that have touched the lives of countless people across generations and continents.

What began as a sacred spiritual mission has grown into a global source of faith, healing and guidance for devotees seeking peace, strength and a deeper connection to the divine. For many, Avadhoota Datta Peetham is far more than an institution or ashram. It is a spiritual home — a place where prayers are offered, traditions are preserved, hearts are comforted and lives are transformed.

At the center of this extraordinary journey is His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, whose teachings and humanitarian work continue to inspire millions around the world. Revered as a spiritual master, healer, humanitarian and guide, Sri Swamiji has dedicated His life to uplifting humanity through faith, compassion, discipline and selfless service.

The significance of Sri Swamiji’s presence within the lives of devotees cannot truly be measured. Through His wisdom and guidance, many have found hope during difficult times, peace during uncertainty and strength during personal struggles. His teachings remind devotees of the importance of humility, devotion, kindness and inner growth in everyday life.

One of the most unique aspects of Sri Swamiji’s mission has been His emphasis on healing through music and spirituality. Through Nada Yoga and devotional music, He has shown how sound, prayer and faith can bring emotional and spiritual balance to individuals and communities alike. Beyond spirituality, His humanitarian efforts through hospitals, charitable projects, educational initiatives and acts of seva (selfless service) have positively impacted countless lives.

Having the opportunity to visit Avadhoota Datta Peetham was an experience that is difficult to fully put into words. Each day was a blessing. Every temple, prayer space and sacred area carried deep spiritual significance and meaning. The serenity, peace and overwhelming sense of calm we experienced there made it feel less like visiting a place and more like returning home. It is Nada Mantapa, it is the Universal Prayer Hall,  it is Shuka Vana, it is the Bonsai Garden, it is Lord Venkateshwara Temple, it is Vishwak museum, it is the cows, the monkey, the birth pillars and every other aspect that makes it Heaven on Earth.

There was something incredibly comforting about the atmosphere — the prayers, the devotion, the discipline and the unity among devotees. It created a sense of belonging and spiritual connection that remains unforgettable. In a world that often feels rushed and chaotic, Avadhoota Datta Peetham offered a rare sense of stillness, reflection and inner peace.

The 60th anniversary of Avadhoota Datta Peetham is not simply a celebration of time passed, but a celebration of a living legacy built upon devotion, service and unity. It is a moment to reflect on how many people have been guided, healed and inspired through the Peetham’s mission over the past six decades.

It is also an opportunity to honor the dedication of devotees, volunteers and spiritual seekers around the world who have faithfully supported and carried forward these teachings throughout the years. Their unwavering devotion continues to strengthen the spiritual family that Avadhoota Datta Peetham has become.

In today’s fast-paced and often uncertain world, the Peetham remains a powerful reminder of the importance of faith, compassion, discipline and service to humanity. Its message continues to transcend borders, cultures and generations, bringing people together through spirituality and devotion.

As this historic milestone is celebrated, may the blessings and teachings of His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji continue to inspire hearts for many more generations to come. May Avadhoota Datta Peetham continue to shine as a beacon of peace, healing and divine grace for the world.

Jaya Guru Datta.

Guided by Light: A Deepavali Blessed by Sri Swamiji

Deepavali is and has always been a very special occasion for us — a time to pause, reflect, and celebrate light in all its forms. But this Deepavali 2025 was different. Like other days filled with blessings, this for us brought an abundance of blessings, quiet joy, and those sacred, unexpected moments that only divine grace can arrange.

We knew from the start it would be a simple celebration this year. With both our schedules and Shiva coming home from work on Deepavali morning, the plan was to make the most of our day. Our kids filled the day with warm excitement. After their Deepavali program at school last Thursday, they had been counting down the days, and their enthusiasm was evident in their joy.

Their excitement wasn’t the loud, restless kind — it was that special kind of energy that fills every corner of the home. They were bubbling with happiness, talking about lights.

Lunch was simple — not the full traditional spread this time, but what we felt like having. For me, it turned out to be a gluten-free, slightly odd fusion of flavors, but it felt just right for the day. The food, the laughter, the calm — everything flowed naturally. The afternoon stayed quiet too, with the kids happily drawing and coloring, their little creations adding color to the calm rhythm of the day.

As the sun began to set, we offered our prayers and lit some deyas, watching their soft glow spread through our home. The warm light felt symbolic — a reminder that Deepavali is about is about the quiet strength of light overcoming darkness, both around and within us.

Later that evening, Shiva and I decided to take the kids for a drive to see the Deepavali lights. It was meant to be a short outing, just to let them enjoy the sparkle of the night. But, as it often happens when the Divine guides your steps, we were led somewhere far more meaningful and we were where we were meant to be.

Our drive ended at Sri Datta Yoga Center, Carapichaima, by Lord Hanuman, in time for the evening aarti and everything that followed. The moment we arrived, everything felt perfectly aligned.

In my heart, I know that Sri Swamiji Himself had guided us there — turning an ordinary family drive into an extraordinary spiritual experience. He knew I miss home and He gave me the place I always refer to as home, by the feet of Lord Hanuman. The atmosphere was serene, sacred, and filled with a light that went far beyond the flicker of lamps. It was the light of Sri Swamiji’s blessings, of peace and inner renewal. Meeting Datta family at DYC is always a blessing and meeting Sadhna there was exactly that. The kids were immediately drawn to the sight of her lighting deyas so you could imagine their excitement when they got the opportunity to help. We were able to witness the initial lights, witness evening Aarti and then join in helping with the lighting of deyas around Lord Hanuman. When Punditji (Pundit Durga Prasad Sharma) finished Aarti he joined and Shiva and the kids too, while I helped with sorting the deyas. A visitor who stopped by also did the same. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the final result was an amalgamation of lights.

Watching the deyas shimmer was in every sense a humble, heartfelt Deepavali offering, filled with love, gratitude, and faith. The temple glowed with divine radiance, the air filled with the soft hum of devotion and the light of deyas. If Sadhna was not there lighting deyas, we would not have known the aarti was pending. If Sadhna was not there lighting deyas we may not have stayed for as long as we did.

Standing there, surrounded by divine energy, I realized how perfectly the day had unfolded. We began with simplicity — no big plans, no extravagance — and ended in sanctity. What started as just wanting to show the kids the lights had turned into a night of divine connection and deep inner peace.

It was the perfect evening for us with Sri Swamiji (Sri Datta Nada Prabhu) turning our quiet family day into a spiritual journey. As Punditji (Pundit Durga Prasad Sharma) pointed out lighting 365 lamps in the presence of Lord Hanuman on Deepawali is an immense blessing and we were fortunate to be a part of this. As the Facebook post states, “Each flame representing every day of the 365 days of this year symbolizes power, purity, and the cosmic alignment that connects our home with the divine power of wealth, positivity, and protection.”

Screenshot from Sri Dattatreya Yoga Centre Trinidad and Tobago’s Facebook page where the significance of the lighting of the 365 deeyas is explained.

Deepavali 2025 reminded me that blessings can come quietly, wrapped in peace, family, and divine timing. Sri Swamiji always guides and everything unfolded as a present beautifully unwrapped. With Him, everything is extra special because it is guided by His Holy Hands.

May this Deepavali and every day ahead be filled with peace, joy, and the boundless grace of Sri Swamiji. 🪔

Celebrating Sri Swamiji’s Guinness World Records and the Living Forest of Peace

Yes, this post is dedicated to His Holiness and celebrating Him. He is our dearest Pujya Appaji. I have never had a reason to doubt Appaji and very often I refer to Him as the Divine Master and sometimes too, the Bearded Master who is filled with compassion.

As many know, the spiritual legacy of His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, founder of the Avadhoota Datta Peetham in Mysore, is filled not only with divine teachings and healing music, but also with miraculous achievements that continue to inspire the world. His life is a tapestry woven with threads of compassion, dedication, He is purity, He is peace and tranquility, He is sincerity in its purest form, He is wisdom at its fullest and day in day out, every waking second, moment after moment, He continues to make a global impact—and many of these threads have been officially recognized by Guinness World Records.

Today’s was the most recent. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1667rzsLez/ What was it for?

A Living Miracle: 10,836 Rare Bonsai Trees

Today, June 14th, 2025 the Guinness World Records awarded a new title to His Holiness Dr. Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji and Avadhoota Datta Peetham for housing 10,836 of the world’s rarest bonsai trees in one single location. This sacred forest of miniatures—each a living soul—forms the largest bonsai collection in the world. These trees are not just a botanical marvel but also a symbol of patience, care, and spiritual discipline.

Vanadurga Vriksha Shanti Yagnam: A Prayer for the Planet

What sets this divine garden apart is not just the trees, but the sacred rituals that breathe life into them. Pujya Appaji performed the Vanadurga Vriksha Shanti Yagnam, a powerful Vedic ceremony dedicated to Mother Nature and the guardian deity of forests, Vanadurga Devi. This ancient yagna was conducted in the very presence of these rare bonsais—a spiritual act to invoke healing, harmony, and balance for all living beings and the natural world.

This Guinness World Record Pujya Appaji said, “Thank You team Bonsai. Today’s Bonsai Guinness Record is not just my effort; it is the effort of many in the background.” https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16WyYR4W6h/

So what are Pujya Appaji’s other record-breaking feats of devotion and harmony?

Pujya Appaji’s messages are messages beyond records. These world records are not mere numbers. They represent a global spiritual movement led by a realized Master who walks gently on Earth while guiding millions toward inner peace. From sacred chants that echo healing to ancient trees that whisper wisdom, Pujya Appaji’s works are a reminder that divine miracles happen not only in the heavens but also on Earth, when one lives in service to all life. Pujya Appaji’s remarkable achievements span spiritual, ecological, musical, and community domains—reflecting his holistic vision of service, harmony, and global unity.

Let us bow in gratitude and wonder at the divine mission of Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, whose legacy continues to grow—like the sacred bonsais—quietly powerful, deeply rooted, and eternally inspiring. Sri Guru Datta.

Celebrating a Living Light: His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji

Jaya Guru Datta!

In a world filled with noise, confusion, and change, there are rare souls who radiate unwavering peace and divine purpose. His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji is one such living light—a beacon of love, wisdom, and healing whose presence has touched countless lives across the globe. This year, Pujya Sri Appaji celebrates 83 years. He is the epitome of Truth, Knowledge, and Bliss.

Son of Sri Narahari Teertha Swami and Jayalakshmi Maata, Pujya Appaji was born in 1942 in Andhra Pradesh, India, at the sacred confluence of three rivers – the Arkavati River, the Kaveri River and the Guptagaamini River. Pujya Appaji has dedicated His life to uplifting humanity through the ancient yet timeless path of Dharma, Bhakti, and Seva. A spiritual master, yogi, musician, and compassionate healer, His Holiness is the revered founder of Avadhoota Datta Peetham in Mysore, a vibrant spiritual and cultural center that offers spiritual guidance, Vedic knowledge, and charitable services to all, regardless of religion or background.

In creating a greeting I was looking for a particular photo of Pujya Appaji (one I had not used before) and I kid you not when I say that a lot of photos with Pujya Appaji show His Holiness either with a microphone in front of Him, or Him doing pooja or something of the sort and it made me smile. Why? It was this thought in my mind, ‘Rachael, your Appaji is always doing something. He is selfless and it is always for the good of mankind.’ 83 years is a milestone and 83 also has other significance for me, and will there are so many things I can share that would show why I don’t question His Holiness, I will say this. My understanding of who Pujya Appaji is began long before I physically met Him. It began with a fascination with His name and saying it over and over because in addition to being was very young at the time, I liked the way His name sounds.

I have experienced His Grace and His compassion in so many ways. I always feel His presence, His energy and His Love. This is why I always say, “Thank you Appaji for all that You do and continue to do. Please accept my humble Prostations at Your Lotus Feet.”

The Power of Divine Music

One of Pujya Appaji’s most extraordinary gifts is His healing music. Through His soul-stirring Raga Sagara concerts, He brings together music and meditation, soothing the mind and awakening the soul. His Holiness has even been recognized by Guinness World Records for His musical achievements, yet His humble mission remains the same—to heal, inspire, and reconnect humanity with the Divine through sound.

Pujya Appaji is both timeless and relevant. While rooted in the deep wisdom of the ancient rishis, He speaks to the modern seeker with clarity and compassion. Whether through discourses, bhajans, or silent blessings, He opens the door for each soul to walk its own unique path toward peace and self-realization.

He teaches not only through words, but through His actions—feeding the hungry, healing the sick, protecting nature, and uplifting the downtrodden. His global humanitarian work reflects a deep understanding that true spirituality is lived through service, love, and unity.

To be in Pujya Appaji presence—even through a video, bhajan, or written word—is to feel a rare silence, a rare joy. Devotees describe a sense of calm, direction, and a reminder that no matter how dark life seems, there is always divine light waiting within.

He reminds us that God is not distant, but near. That our breath, our heartbeats, our very existence is sacred. And that by living with truth, humility, and devotion, we can transform our lives and uplift others.

As we celebrate the life and mission of Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, let us take a moment to reflect on the grace He brings into this world. May we honor His teachings not just in word, but in practice—by being kind, by being present, and by walking the path of love.

Sri Guru Datta!

Celebrating Pujya Appaji!

In this post I am celebrating His Holiness Parama Pujya Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, our dearest Pujya Appaji! Appaji is like no other and those who know His Holiness can surely agree that He has never been! Appaji, over and over again, I place my most humble prostrations at Your Lotus Feet!

Not one day in my life have I ever questioned Appaji or His greatness and Appaji knows I never would. My journey with Appaji began years ago as a little girl seeing His name and trying to say it and practicing it syllable by syllable without knowing Sachchidanda means ‘truth, consciousness and bliss”. To see Pujya Appaji’s smiling face is always a comfort.  To hear His voice, read His messages, go through the different platforms He exposes us to daily is only just a fraction of the many blessings we receive on a daily basis!

From the very first day I saw Pujya Appaji, His priceless smile and His eyes said it all! Every day of our lives with Pujya Appaji has been a blessing and no number of words can adequately say Thank You to His Holiness for all He has done for us and continues to do for us! As I am writing this, I am listening to Appaji’s bhajans, and His voice is my comfort.

When I posted on Facebook a few days ago it felt like I was looking on at a dream and as these past two weeks have unfolded Appaji and Lord Hanuman showed that together They have provided protection and guidance consistently as always.

Indeed, I had a career opportunity that I was working towards for over the last eight years. When it came it felt surreal. I had forgotten about it for a bit because of how long I had applied but I was honored to be selected. I spoke to Shiva and let him know I needed the kids and him with me as I couldn’t be away from them for over a month and leave them alone so he knew what my thoughts were and though I followed the instructions I was given, I spoke mentally to Appaji saying, “Whatever You decide I will follow!” The reality was that I just needed to make an effort to show interest and I did, but nothing else was in my hands and with good reason! This job would have placed my entire family in jeopardy because as I said, I would have been on an island waiting with Shiva and our little ones for Hurricane Beryl to hit. Seeing the damage it wreaked on so many people in so many countries, knowing how many people it affected, I know what we were spared from.

My reality is this:

  1. Pujya Appaji and Lord Hanumanta have saved me several times and I will always be eternally grateful for this.
  2. Pujya Appaji has taught me the value of silence on so many levels.
  3. Pujya Appaji has taught me why I need to focus.
  4. Pujya Appaji has given me many avenues to be good and do good.

Like me, many of you can attest to the fact that:

5. Pujya Appaji blesses us each day abundantly and no number of words can adequately say Thank You because we owe Pujya Appaji a debt of gratitude that we can never repay.

6. Pujya Appaji has found so many avenues to interact with us on a daily basis that He reminds us He is always with us. We have Pujya Appaji’s social media platforms, SGS Posts and all other apps, YouTube, the Ashramas and Datta Yoga Centers globally, Kriya Yoga, Bhagavad Gita, Kavachas, daily live sessions, Dattavani speeches and Bhajans just to name a few.

7. Pujya Appaji has established several Bala Datta Centers to ensure that our children are taken care of.

8. Pujya Appaji has authorized the publishing of so many books available in print and as e-books on sites like Amazon.

9. Pujya Appaji has given us Ragas and provided us with Healing Music.

10. Pujya Appaji has and continues to tell us and show us day after day, how to take better care of ourselves.

11. Pujya Appaji has always been committed to helping us take better care of ourselves.

12. Pujya Appaji has always been committed to serving mankind.

13. Pujya Appaji has and continues to teach us how to take better care of our environment, and by extension, this world we live in.

14. Pujya Appaji’s actions have always been selfless.

15. Pujya Appaji has always been committed to helping people the world over!

16. Pujya Appaji always urges us to live together.

17. Pujya Appaji does not discriminate.

18. Pujya Appaji is the purest representation of Divinity, Selflessness and all that is good.

19. Pujya Appaji leads by example.

20. Pujya Appaji’s commitment, dedication and love have been unwavering.

21. Pujya Appaji loves us all and that love speaks volumes.

Appaji, we pray for Your Health and will continue to do so! We thank You immensely for all You have done for us and continue to do for us, every second of every day! We love You Appaji!

Celebrating Appaji!

Jaya Guru Datta!

In this post I am celebrating His Holiness, Param Pujya Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji!

To some He is Sri Swamiji but to many of us He is Sadguru Deva, Appaji and Tataji!

He is the bearded Master who loves all of us and mankind unconditionally! He is the one who takes care of us selflessly, whose love transitions everything. He is the one with the priceless smile, with the overflowing energy, who gives and gives and only asks when He needs us to do what is necessary for our own good.

The past couple days have been a testimony of Appaji’s unwavering love and selflessness. His entire life is but this has been one microcosm of a much longer story that is representative of His life and transitions everything else! He is Nada Brahma, friend, teacher, Sadguru, healer, protector, Appaji, Tataji, and so much more in one physical form. He is Lord Datta!

In spite of health challenges, prior commitments, His extremely hectic schedule and so much more, Appaji came to Trinidad from Mysore for His devotees in Trinidad and Tobago and created history once again as His every action resulted in a most memorable visit that would forever be in the hearts of all whose lives have been touched by the events of this very short but blessed visit where so many blessed things have happened.

With Appaji’s Grace, an entourage of learned vedic pundits and scholars, all a part of Appaji’s mission travelled to Trinidad from Mysore, India and some from the USA and Canada to ensure that the Maha Rudra Yagam was conducted as it should be and from Day 1 of their arrival, they did excellent service.

In addition to this, devotees came from several different countries to witness the very same and some also, to see His Holiness for the very first time and to do seva. While on one hand His presence is a testimony of His greatness, His every action is a testimony of His greatness! He is the epitome of Truth, Knowledge, Bliss, Grace and Humility! He is Sachchidananda.

Appaji we pray for Your Health. Appaji thank You immensely for all You do for us moment after moment, day after day. Thank You for all that You do for all mankind! You are a blessing to us all! We love You more than words can ever say and value You immensely! You are our Appaji, Tataji to our children, Sadgurudeva to us all! Thank You for loving us, Thank You for guiding us constantly, Thank You for showing us how to live and all the reminders You share with us through social media platforms and Apps. Please accept our humble prostrations at Your Lotus Feet!

Celebrating Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman’s Anniversary and Appaji’s Birthday!

Jaya Guru Datta!

Yes, you have read the title correctly!

“It’s a Happy, Happy, Happy Day! It’s a Holy, Holy Day! “

These are the words which have been playing in my head all day, because for us (meaning the devotees in Trinidad), the celebration is two-fold! The difference is, I am hearing it in Sri Bala Swamiji’s voice and the only other song I stopped to sing today was “Vande Santam Hanumantam” when I heard it in Pt Ganesh Maharaj’s TikTok video being sung by His Holiness Param Pujya Dr Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda!

This was one of the first bhajans of His Holiness that I heard and today I was reminded of my initial visits to the majestically tall Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman Murti which stands tall in Carapichaima. It is one many Datta devotees enjoy listening to, so I am sharing the YouTube link here.

Why is the celebration two-fold?

Let me explain:

  1. June 9, 2022 marks the 19th Anniversary of the consecration of the 85ft Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman Murti by His Holiness Pujya Appaji.
  2. At the time when this post is being written, it is already Jyestha Sudha Ekadasi in India. It is also the day when we celebrate the Lunar Birthday of His Holiness and we wish His Holiness a very Happy 80th Birthday!

The 85ft Karya Siddhi Hanuman Murti here in Trinidad is one that reminds us day after day, how blessed we truly are here in Trinidad. No amount of words can ever say how truly grateful we are!

As the day began, for me it didn’t feel like one where I wanted to be rushing and sorting work! Yes, I know work is important and it takes so much of my time, but it was a day when I wanted a different pace and in more ways than one, I got it.

The energy, the peace and the way the entire day unfolded was proof of it!

For those wondering about Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman, please allow me to share an excerpt from a post on Trinidad Hanuman Datta Mala, “Apart from that, Sri Appaji has always realised from His early visits, that our ancestors brought Hanuman worship in their hearts and minds and would sing his Chalisa if physical worship was not always possible, because of the difficulties they faced! This Hanuman devotion sustained them and helps us now also to overcome all obstacles!”

As described in “The Journey- Memoirs of A Devotee of Parama Pujya Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji,”  by Sheetal Prasadji, a very humble and gentle soul who is widely known as a musician and author, who is Trinidadian by birth, “On that most auspicious day, Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, Pontiff of Datta Peetham and Spiritual Master to countless devotees all over the world, by His Divine Sankalpa, consecrated the Karya Siddhi Anjaneya Temple and later stated, Now He had synthesized Himself with Sri Hanuman and taken permanent residence in my ‘Bhoomi’ my home land (Chapter 31).

With an abundance of posts on Social Media, namely on Facebook to mark this historic occasion, the energy and celebration were evident. They were all filled with so much love with several special moments and memories shared by Datta devotees. For most of the day messages and posts celebrating the anniversary of Lord Hanuman dominated social media and messages celebrating Appaji’s birthday were evident as soon as it was either morning in India or it was morning in other parts of the world.

What made my day was being able to view Puja and Purnahuti live from Avadhoota Datta Peetham in Ashrama and being able to hear Appaji’s message as before one of the live sessions concluded. It gave me renewed energy to do one of the things I love most- writing!

Today was a day of peace, a day of giving thanks and a day for counting blessings! It was also a day of positivity and gentle reminders.

Happy 80th Birthday year Appaji!

In closing I take this opportunity to wish Appaji a very Happy Birthday 80th Birthday year to You! Please accept our humble Prostrations at Your Lotus Feet!

Sri Swamiji’s Discourse: Episode 513 Srimadbhagavatam SGSPosts

This is a message from His Holiness Param Pujya Dr Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji! Episode 513 Srimadbhagavatam SGSPosts:

“Bhagīratha mounted his chariot and drove swiftly at the speed of wind. River Ganga rapidly flowed behind him purifying different lands as she flowed through them.”

Swamiji explains: What a meritorious deed Bhagīratha performed! He brought purity to all lands by bringing Ganga to Earth. Because of the existence of Ganga, all smaller tributaries and distributaries flow everywhere. You may wonder- do other rivers not have any speciality in them? Of course they have! Each river has its own speciality. But River Ganga surpasses all other rivers with its purity!

How should the auspicious river bath be taken in sacred rivers? It is incorrect to directly go and bathe in the river and cleanse oneself using soap. Prior to proceeding for a river bath, the person should bathe and cleanse himself. He should complete all his daily obligatory duties. He should then, with feelings of total purity and reverence, proceed to the river.

Washing clothes or utensils, bathing with soap, polluting the river with chemicals and factory wastes or dirtying the river by any other method are forbidden. Fetch the river water in a bucket and then use that water for your needs. It is incorrect to pollute the entire river in order to complete your tasks. A river is considered sacred and akin to nectar. A river flows through many mountains and herbs imbibing their medicinal properties. As it flows through varied types of rocks and gems, it absorbs their energies as well. It is natural mineral water. Drinking such water cures diseases. Crops grown with this water are nutritious.

Is it right to pollute such rivers? The Government’s efforts to clean the river are not yielding complete results due to lack of co-operation from citizens. They continue to pollute the river despite Government’s efforts. If at all polluted water needs to be let into the river, the water should be treated and then released. Sewage treatment plants should be set up for this purpose. When treated water is released into the river, the aquatic animals do not perish. By releasing polluted water, the plants perish, the animals are destroyed and the water is no longer fit for consumption. We are poisoning the water. We pollute the water and then blame the Government for not taking adequate steps. Government has been doing its best in this aspect.

When drainage waters are collected and left to dry, then Sun’s rays suck up the dirt and impurities. Germs are destroyed. When treated water is used for watering plants, the water enters into the earth. It gets purified there. Water table improves. We get purified drinking water again from earth.

We are careless in disposing garbage. We worry only about the cleanliness of our house when dirtying the streets and then shift the blame on to the Government. Shamelessly we use plastic covers and indiscriminately dispose them. Cows and buffaloes eat plastic and fall sick. Are we not sinning? When there are alternatives to plastic, why are we insistent on using plastic? Plastic rice and plastic noodles have flooded the markets. Let us now get back to the story.

When we go for a sacred river bath, we should at first bathe and cleanse ourselves at home. With devotion and reverence we should go to the river and dip thrice. That’s all. Applying soap and bathing in river increases the sins instead of destroying them. Sins of those who bathed earlier in those waters transfer to the person who dirties it.

“River Ganga flowed over the ashes of the sixty thousand sons of Sagara. With the touch of Ganga, these sons were purified and they reached heaven. From here originates the custom of taking the ashes of the deceased and offering them in River Ganga. She swallows up the sins”.

For those who are familiar with this book, it is a book of poetry that tells a story and it was written by Sheetal K Prasad, a Trinidadian by birth, who is an ardent devotee of His Holiness Param Pujya Dr Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji. In this book Uncle Sheetal refers to His Holiness as, “my MASTER, my Lord, my sole reason for being.”

Lotuses at His Holy Feet is non-fiction and it is a testimony of Uncle Sheetal’s experiences as well as his love for His Holiness, his love for JayaLakshmi Maa and his love for Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji who we affectionately call Sri Bala Swamiji. More so it is a testimony and celebration of the greatness of the divinity each represents meaning a celebration of the greatness of our Sadguru who is the epitome of Truth, Knowledge and Bliss, as Lord Dattatreya, as Nada Brahma, as our Saviour, as the Crowning Glory of the Universe as I often times refer to His Holiness, and it is a celebration of His Mother-the Divine Mother-, His Guru as well as a celebration of Sri Bala Swamiji- Junior Pontiff at Avadhoota Datta Peetham who exudes humility, compassion and divinity.
