For those who do not know,

“Karya” means wish or act. “Siddhi” means realizing. Therefore Karya Siddhi Hanuman is one who fulfills your wishes”.

Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman stands majestically tall at the Sri Dattatreya Yoga Centre in Carapichaima. His is the 85 ft Murti which is known by people the world over and it is the largest in the Western Hemisphere. He represents strength and He represents victory. He gives Protection, Courage and He is synonymous with friendship, loyalty, compassion, bravery, purity of mind, thought and action! On a day like today thousands would make their way to the Ashrama to make offerings, give thanks, do puja, chant and glorify His name. Today however is quite different.

Today would be a day steeped in history as Hanuman devotees cannot do so! Why? We, like so much more of the global human population, are forced to stay at home to protect ourselves, our families, our communities and others because of Covid-19, the global pandemic that continues to wreak havoc on humanity by its spread and increasing number of deaths. Added to that Tuesday being Lord Hanuman’s Day was celebrated as Lord Hanuman’s Day by most of the Western world.

As I am typing this I have stopped for a view minutes to take in the Facebook Live from His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji! I am blessed to witness Poornaphala, I am blessed to witness Homa and I have been able to see many devotees from Trinidad and around the world being blessed to experience the very same! I have also been blessed to see Lord Hanuman as He stands majestically tall from a beautiful vantage point at Sri Datta Venkateswara Temple. Priceless!

Today, in Celebrating Hanuman Jayanti, I also take this time to celebrate His Holiness Param Pujya Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – our dear Sadgurudeva, Appaji, Nada Brahma- and Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji- our dear Bala Swamiji! Both always take care of us. They always guide, They always share, They are always selfless and both show us sincerity, humility and all that is good and kind. They have made it possible for us to keep our focus in this very trying time of Covid-19 when so many are confined to their homes. If I may say, They have provided the oxygen to keep us going!

Day after day we are given the opportunity to look at various lives from Mysore Ashrama. Appaji has given devotees an opportunity to guess the Bhajan that will be sung, day after day we are invited to participate in Puja, there is daily Kriya Yoga and this is in addition to all the other daily messages and activities to participate in.

How can we make this a true celebration?

  • Keep being good and doing good by being true to yourself and being your brother’s keeper
  • Chant Sri Hanuman Chalisa. Record your count and submit it on Avadhoota Datta Peetham. Do not just do this today but do it every day!
  • Chant Sri Hanumanji’s Mantras
  • Be thankful for life and for this lifeline we have been given
  • Make today count and let every day after bring added value!
  • Click on the links for each of the videos shared here and sing with Appaji
  • Use the Bhajan Mala App to learn the words for the Bhajans
  • Keep your focus
  • Keep praying and keep giving thanks

As we thank Lord Hanuman for all His blessings, let us also pray for the health of our dear Appaji- our Sadgurudeva- and our dear Sri Bala Swamiji. Appaji and Sri Bala Swamiji, thank You for all that You continue to do for us. Please accept our Humble Pranams and Prostations at both of Your Lotus Feet!

Celebrating the availability of Appaji’s books to all Datta devotees via Kindle Apps

Jaya Guru Datta!

Today like every other day is a blessed day! We can all agree that we are infinitely blessed! All that His Holiness Param Pujya Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, our Sadguru, our Appaji does for us and for all humanity is immeasurable and He is Avadhoota!  He is Nada Brahma and is always there for us!  He is Sachchidananda (the manifestation of Truth, Knowledge and Bliss). Today holds greater significance as it is the day when Appaji arrives in Trinidad and it is a day many of us have been looking forward to!

The focus of this post is somewhat different as it shows us another blessing Appaji has given to us! On this occasion I am very happy to be able to share the gift of reading with all Datta devotees the world over as you will be quite pleased to know some of Appaji’s books are available in Kindle Editions so you can purchase Appaji’s books and download them via Kindle Apps. Together, let us celebrate the gift of reading for all Datta devotees via Kindle Apps!

Finding Appaji’s books on Amazon in Kindle Edition is a priceless discovery and certainly a treasure and a blessing! I could not wait to share this with you! I was absolutely excited and delighted when I found four (4) of Appaji’s books on Amazon Kindle. I found them yesterday and wanted to ensure that I could share them with you today.

The following pieces of information are very important to take note of as they will certainly help.

1.       Each book can be given as a gift so that you can spread Appaji’s teachings and messages with others.

2.      You can download a sample of each book if you do not have funds at this time to purchase them.

3.      You can add each book to a Wish List so that you can find them easily when you can purchase them.

As mentioned in my previous post you do not need a Kindle to read a book that is available in Kindle Edition. Of course having one may be a source of comfort to you but there are several free ways in which you can download Free Apps to read your Kindle Books.

Allow me to clarify one thing: Many people misunderstand what a Kindle is!

What is a Kindle?

A Kindle is a small hand held electronic device for reading books which has been developed by online retailer Amazon. (Source: https://www.digitalunite.com>guides)

As mentioned having a Kindle is not the only way to download a book in Kindle edition. What you can do is download the free Kindle App

1.       From Android from Google Playstore at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amazon.kindle

2.      From Amazon for PC or Mac, Android or IOS at https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs/fd/kcp

3.      From the Apple Store at https://itunes.apple.com/tt/app/kindle/id302584613?mt=8

Further to this you can download the App to more than one device (for example, a mobile phone and a laptop or a laptop and a desktop)

What’s more is that if you live in Trinidad and Tobago when you purchase a Kindle book you don’t incur any charges for online shopping.

I am happy that I could share this good news with you and I invite you to share it with others! In closing I leave you with Appaji’s itinerary for His visit to Trinidad!

Celebrating Hanuman Chalisa Chanting at Coromandel Shiv Mandir

Sita Ram! Jaya Guru Datta! Sri Guru Datta!

Indeed January 31, 2016 was a blessed and blissful day! If you missed this opportunity to join with us we are happy to share some of it with you via this post and if you were with us, this is our way of letting you know how meaningful your presence was to us.

It was a day Coromandel Shiv Mandir hosted the Datta Kirtan Mandali members and it was a day that we together with many other devotees were looking forward to! For those who know Coromandel is where I grew up and an opportunity to be at the Mandir and in my family home is always something I look forward to thoroughly.

We had planned on leaving earlier than we actually did but we were happy that we got there on time. Interestingly enough we met our Datta family just before we reached Chatham and were able to witness the full Hanuman Chalisa Chanting event! When the function ended we were able to spend more time with everyone-our Coromandel Shiv Mandir family, our Datta family, my family, members of the Epic ChanTTing Team and other devotees who are equally dear to us!

Here is what the official invitation looked like and we were happy to share it with as many people as we could.

This was created by my sister- Ria Thomas

The Mandir as always was beautifully decorated and at the entrance we were greeted by the beautiful Murti of Lord Ganapati! Ganapati Bapa Moriya! When we got there Pundit Naresh Maharaj was concluding puja and devotees were seated, awaiting the start of the chanting!

Many would agree that Hanuman Chalisa Chanting is so therapeutic, so meaningful, and it is always filled with so much love and energy. This event is indeed a memorable one and it is considered by us all as a great blessing. It was a collective effort as teamwork was present throughout. Moreover it was a blissful, a powerful and an awesome experience. No one word could fully describe it.

Here are some of the pictures I was able to get:

Standing by the Bedi was Pundit Naresh Maharaj who conducted Puja prior to the start of chanting.

Devotees stood with clasped hands and sang as the Aarti was being performed.

Every moment spent was one to cherish. We could tell that everyone enjoyed this experience because of the radiant smiles we saw, the way everyone participated in chanting and in the feedback we received following the function.

We had just over 125 devotees in our presence and chanted Hanuman Chalisa 14 times.

It was a joyous occasion too as it allowed Epic ChanTTing members to officially meet each other.

January 31, 2016 remains a memorable day for the Coromandel Shiv Mandir and its Members. From my Mom (Mrs Doris Thomas), my Dad (Mr Ranjit Thomas), and all other Members of the Coromandel Shiv Mandir to the Members of the Datta Kirtan Mandali and all Devotees, we thank you each of you wholeheartedly for chanting Hanuman Chalisa with us! May the continued Blessings of the Divine Master be with you now and always!

Jai Veer Hanuman! Bajrang Bali Ki Jai! Om Namo Hanumate Namaha!
