Protecting Your Peace of Mind: Valuing Your Worth

One of the most important lessons I have learned is that protecting your peace of mind is not selfish—it is necessary. In a world that constantly demands our time, energy, attention, and emotional resources, it is easy to lose sight of our own well-being while trying to meet the expectations of others.

Many of us spend far too much time seeking validation, understanding, appreciation, or acceptance from people who may never be willing or able to give it. We answer messages that go unanswered, extend kindness that is not reciprocated, and continue investing in relationships that leave us feeling drained rather than fulfilled. While kindness and compassion are admirable qualities, they should never come at the expense of our self-worth.

Valuing your worth begins with recognizing that your time, energy, and emotional health are valuable resources. Not everyone deserves unlimited access to them. The people who truly value you will respect your boundaries, appreciate your efforts, and make you feel seen and heard. Healthy relationships—whether personal or professional—are built on mutual respect, consideration, and reciprocity.

Protecting your peace of mind sometimes means accepting difficult truths. It may mean realizing that not everyone will understand you, support you, or choose to walk beside you on your journey. It may mean stepping back from situations that create unnecessary stress or distancing yourself from those who repeatedly disregard your feelings. While these decisions can be uncomfortable, they often create space for healthier connections and greater personal growth.

One of the most empowering things we can do is stop measuring our value by the actions of others. Someone else’s inability to recognize your worth does not diminish it. Your value is not determined by how quickly someone responds to your message, whether they include you in their plans, or how much attention they give you. Your worth exists independently of external validation.

When you begin to value yourself, your priorities shift. You become more selective about where you invest your energy. You learn to say no without guilt. You stop chasing people who are determined to remain distant. Most importantly, you begin to cultivate a sense of inner peace that is not dependent on the approval or behaviour of others.

Protecting your peace of mind is not about shutting people out; it is about choosing what you allow into your life. It is about creating boundaries that honour your well-being and surrounding yourself with people, experiences, and opportunities that align with your values.

Life is too precious to spend it constantly questioning your worth. Choose the relationships that nourish your spirit. Choose the environments that allow you to grow. Choose the thoughts that encourage rather than diminish you. And above all, remember that valuing your worth is one of the greatest acts of self-respect you can practice.

Your peace matters. Protect it. Your worth matters. Never forget it.

Celebrating Deepavali 2019!

Jaya Guru Datta!

Deepavali 2019 is nothing short of a blessing. It is a first for us as this is our first trip to India and thus our first Deepavali in India as well as our first with our dear baby girl who is also celebrating her first Deepavali. In every sense it is a true celebration of life and understanding self, it is filled with priceless moments and being showered by an abundance of blessings. More so it is in every sense a day of being thankful for all blessings and a day filled with great humility and gratitude.

October 27, the most celebrated day of Deepavali, began in prayer, first with humble prostrations to our Sadguru, His Holiness Param Pujya Dr Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji and it continued with prayerful supplication throughout the day. We were able to join with hundreds of others to witness His Holiness Param Pujya Dr Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji perform Puja on the auspicious day of Deepavali 2019 and to participate in Puja. A great blessing this most certainly was!

As the day unfolded it presented so much that needed to be experienced with the heart and soul and not captured by phone or camera. It just needed to be experienced in its purest form, with energy at its purest and fullest- another step in understanding the self and the path being travelled. Energy, we can all agree comes in various forms. Energy, at its purest, is peaceful and calming. More so it is soothing and incomparable to anything else. There is no pressure, no stress, no pain, no negativity- just positivity!

Then came an opportunity to see the pieces of a puzzle (if one can call it such) come together as the Divine Master provided answers that for years I have not fought to find but accepted that faith would bring answers to if indeed they exist. It was like the unravelling of a story that for years has gotten the better of so many and has also denied them their true existence.
On the auspicious occasion of Deepavali 2019 He did exactly this! He provided answers and direction. Western Doctors who have resigned one’s fate to medication and dependency on medication they prescribe are no match for His greatness and knowledge, His compassion and His commitment to humanity. Being in the right place at the right time is one thing but being exactly where the Master wants you to be is another. It is absolutely the best part of the story ever! A way forward is what is received and it is better than being stuck which has been past reality.

Then to add to an already perfectly blessed day where your day begins with you seeing the Crowning Glory of the Universe, Nada Brahma, the epitome of Truth, Knowledge and Bliss, where it continues with you understanding how blessed you are by seeing more of what makes Him great, the epitome of perfection and the Master of the Universe you get your first real taste of Kriya Yoga which echoes the need to take care of oneself. Blessing after blessing most certainly! This is how I choose to see it and it is also how I choose to describe it.
It requires no searching, no stress, no fighting! That is not my life! No energy for it!
Then to bring Oct 27, 2019 to a close we had the beautiful opportunity of having a parent who lives downstairs where we stay do a rangoli design for our baby girl. Baby Sumanasa loved it and seeing how happy the daughters of these parents were made the occasion even more special.
Mere days earlier, on Dhanteras, Oct 25, 2019 this year, the first day of 5 days of Deepavali celebrations, we were fortunate to witness His Holiness Param Pujya Dr Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda perform Abhishekam for Lord Venkateshara. It was a sight to behold and truly an experience to be experienced through one’s own eyes and one’s own heart.
Then today, October 28, 2019 being able to witness Appaji’s return to Ashrama was certainly a most memorable occasion.

Celebrating World Happiness Day 2018!

“For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.”

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Today (March 20) is World Happiness Day! I hope that your day was filled with happiness and if it was not, I hope that there was some measure of happiness for you today! If it hasn’t been like that yet please know that the day is not over and happiness will greet you soon. It will appear in the form of laughter, a smile or a kind word.

Happiness we can all agree should come from within and can manifest itself through any of the ways mentioned above- in a smile, a kind word, a thoughtful gesture or just pure laughter!

Here is a link to some quotes which I found and I am happy to share:   https://www.brainyquote.com/topics/happiness

Hopefully there is something there which can resonate with you and also something that was able to pique your interest.

In continuing allow me to ask,  have you heard what the UN report said about Trinidad and Tobago’s happiness Index? Please have a look at this video:

Now look at Trinidad and Tobago in relation to the top 10 countries that are the happiest in the world.

Now stop for a minute and ask yourself what makes Finland the world’s happiest country. Then be sure to look at the video below.

In closing this is my message to you: Spread the love, spread the laughter, spread the happiness!

Stay away from anyone who tries to steal your happiness! If you cannot stay away from the one who tries to steal your happiness just do not let them or their negativity or their nonsense get the better of you!

From me to you, Happy International Happiness Day 2018!
