Celebrating Wins & Growth

There was a time when I would quietly move from one achievement to the next without pausing. Tick the box. Submit the assignment. Finish the project. Support the students. Start the next thing. No celebration. No reflection. Just movement.

But I’ve learned something important along the way: celebrating your wins is not pride — it’s perspective.

We are often so focused on where we are going that we forget to honour how far we have come. We set goals, work tirelessly, overcome obstacles, juggle responsibilities, and stretch ourselves in ways no one else sees. And then when we finally accomplish something, we minimize it.

“It was nothing.”
“I could have done better.”
“That’s just what I’m supposed to do.”

No. It is something. And it matters.

Celebrating your wins — big or small — does three powerful things:

1. It reminds you of your growth.
The version of you today once prayed, hoped, or worked toward what you now consider “normal.” What feels routine now was once unfamiliar territory. Reflection turns ordinary milestones into evidence of progress.

2. It builds confidence for the next challenge.
When you acknowledge what you’ve accomplished, you reinforce the truth that you are capable. Success leaves clues. When you celebrate, you internalize them.

3. It strengthens gratitude.
Every journey includes support — mentors, family, faith, discipline, resilience. Pausing to celebrate creates space to be thankful for both the outcome and the process.

And let’s talk about the journey itself.

Success is rarely a straight line. It is early mornings and late nights. It is revision and reworking. It is doubt followed by determination. It is showing up even when motivation is low. The journey shapes us just as much as the destination.

That’s why celebrating only the final result is not enough. Celebrate the consistency. Celebrate the courage to begin. Celebrate the decision to keep going when quitting would have been easier.

Sometimes the win isn’t a certificate, a title, or public recognition. Sometimes the win is personal growth. Emotional maturity. Improved discipline. Stronger boundaries. A calmer response. A deeper faith.

Those wins are just as powerful.

I have learned to pause now — even briefly — and say, “I did my best” or “Yes, it’s coming together nicely.” To reflect. To document. To express gratitude. To allow myself to feel proud without guilt. Because acknowledging success does not make you complacent; it fuels you.

If you are reading this and moving quickly from one goal to the next, I encourage you: pause.

Look back at where you were one year ago.
Look at what you’ve survived.
Look at what you’ve built.
Look at what you’ve learned.

Celebrate that.

You are allowed to honour your effort.
You are allowed to enjoy your progress.
You are allowed to recognize your success.

Your journey deserves acknowledgment.
Your wins deserve celebration.
And so do you.

Celebrating Life’s Lessons through the eyes of Experience!

Hey everyone, yes, I am celebrating life’s lessons, and I am celebrating it through the eyes of experience. Certainly, life presents us with so many challenges that sometimes it comes one after the other, but one of the important things is keeping our faith and not giving up!

Easier said than done, right?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not here to tell you I know what you are going through, or to tell you to get over it or to tell you that your challenges are insignificant! That is not me, it was never me and would never be me, and I can assure you that. I believe in treating people as you would like to be treated and I always do my best to help others.

One thing that I always say and those who know me can attest to it is that no one can ever stand in your shoes and fully say they understand what you are going through because there is only one you and a pair of shoes doesn’t fit any two people the same way. The same adjectives may be used like ‘comfortable’ or ‘uncomfortable’ but that’s as close as it gets.

What I do however is share positivity as best as I can with the hope my messages can reach people the world over! This blog is one medium, then there are my social media pages and my most recent addition has been TikTok. Here is my TikTok link for those who want to visit it, https://www.tiktok.com/@rachaelathomasj . I also urge you to think about these five things!

  1. Not everyone will like you! In this life, people will be bothered by your success, your achievements, your disposition, your beliefs, your finances, your appearance and your happiness just to name a few.
  2. Not everyone lives up to their word! Often times we would realize this is more real than we expect.  Many times people show us what they want us to see! They are about appearances, using flowery language and what we would call, ‘mamagism’.  (Re: Dictionary.com to deceive or tease/ (ˈmɑːməˌɡaɪ) Caribbean / verb. to deceive or tease, either in jest or by deceitful flattery.) They say what they think you want to hear and think that’s okay rather than be honest.
  3. Some people don’t realize the more they lie, the more difficult it becomes to tell the truth. It becomes so bad in some cases, that even they begin to believe their own lies.
  4. Some people do not realize that karma is real. It’s not about wishing anyone bad but asking people to apply Sir Isaac Newton’s third law of motion, “To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction,” to karma, with the full realization that there is a distinct parallel between the both.
  5. People love to create illusions. They don’t realize illusions can be shattered in a split second.

This being said, I sincerely hope these help you!

  1. You don’t need everyone to like you! Your circle may be small but those people you need in your life will be there.
  2. Always use what you know to guide you through your reasoning. Also, don’t change who you are unless it is to become a better version of yourself.
  3. Lies don’t survive. The truth eventually comes out. Just don’t let anyone insult your intelligence, take advantage of you or underestimate your worth.
  4. Always be good and do good! Don’t stoop to anyone’s level! Remember that God always takes care of His children!
  5. Remember sometimes when people choose to be ridiculous, know you just don’t have to respond. I am not saying that should not defend yourself or let others walk over you but sometimes silence pays and trust me, you would know when you should be silent and not expend your energy. Some individuals are so self-absorbed that they cannot see how they are destroying others or hurting them. Don’t subject yourself to insults and by all means if you can, use the scissors of life to cut toxic people out of your life.

In closing, don’t give up! Always believe in yourself! Sometimes, it may not be easy but always know you are not alone!

Celebrating International Women’s Day 2023!

Happy International Women’s Day to all women the world over!

In this post I give thanks to the Divine Mother and I celebrate my Mom, all the special women in my life and all women the world over! As I always say, I am forever grateful and eternally blessed!

Far too often we sell ourselves short and this explains it perfectly. Let your inner beauty shine and always be true to yourself! Always do your best to be better and if others cannot accept you for that, then don’t let them get the better of you! Remove toxic people and anyone who is pulling you down!

Here’s another very positive message! Don’t lose your faith! Don’t lose yourself! Don’t give up your dreams! Don’t let anyone’s false perception cloud your judgement!

Life is never what we expect but giving up is never an option! Trust that you have come a long way and that the Divine Master is always with you and will never abandon you!

Further to this, keep your resolve and be resilient!

  1. Celebrate your journey!
  2. Celebrate God’s blessings in your life and all He has showered on you and spared you from!
  3. Celebrate your parents because your existence would not be possible without them! Celebrate them for the incredible people they are and all they have done and continue to do!
  4. Celebrate all that you are!
  5. Celebrate where you have come from!
  6. Celebrate the lessons you learned along the way!
  7. Celebrate the experience you have gained!
  8. Celebrate the illusions that have been shattered!
  9. Celebrate those who stood by you!
  10. Celebrate your present, be grateful for your past and look forward to your future!
  11. Celebrate you!
