Transforming Hope into Revenue: Why the THRIVE Entrepreneurial Initiative Matters

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”Peter Drucker

Some events leave an impression because they are well organised. Others stay with you because they reaffirm values you have carried throughout your life. Attending the THRIVE Entrepreneurial Initiative, under the leadership of MP Devesh Maharaj and supported by NEDCO, was one of those experiences.

Centered on the inspiring theme, “Transforming Hope into Revenue, Innovation, Value and Enterprise,” the initiative is about far more than entrepreneurship. It is about believing in people, recognising potential, creating opportunities, and equipping individuals with the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to build meaningful futures. It is about creating employment, strengthening small and micro enterprises (SMIs), and fostering innovation that can benefit entire communities.

As I listened to the presentations, I found myself reflecting on why this initiative resonated with me so deeply.

Throughout my life, I have always believed that one of the greatest ways we can serve others is by helping them discover strengths they may not even realise they possess. Sometimes people know they need guidance, but very often they don’t. They simply need someone to recognise their potential before they recognise it themselves.

Whether they are students preparing for the world of work, aspiring entrepreneurs, professionals seeking new opportunities, or adults searching for a fresh start, I have seen time and again how the right encouragement, practical knowledge, and genuine belief in someone’s abilities can completely transform the direction of a life.

That belief has shaped my life’s work.

Whether I am teaching in the classroom, consulting with individuals and organisations, writing, editing, or working in communications, public relations, and marketing, my mission has always been to educate, encourage, and empower others. I want people to leave every interaction with greater confidence, new knowledge, and a clearer understanding of the opportunities available to them.

For many years, I have also shared a message that I believe deserves greater attention: we should begin preparing young people for success long before they leave school. Academic qualifications are important, but so too are communication skills, professionalism, adaptability, confidence, leadership, creativity, and the ability to create value. These are the qualities that make individuals truly marketable in today’s world.

One lesson I especially enjoy teaching is the importance of the elevator pitch. Every student, entrepreneur, and professional should know how to introduce themselves with confidence, clearly communicate their strengths, and articulate the value they bring. Sometimes the right conversation, at the right moment, opens doors that change the course of a person’s life. Knowing how to tell your story can be just as important as the story itself.

That is why the THRIVE Entrepreneurial Initiative struck such a personal chord with me. It recognises that transforming hope into reality requires more than financial support. It requires education, mentorship, innovation, confidence, strategic thinking, and a network of people willing to invest in the success of others.

Supporting others has never been something I confine to my profession—it is simply part of who I am.

Based on my travel and experiences, I make a conscious effort to support local entrepreneurs and small businesses by leaving thoughtful Google reviews for the restaurants, attractions, accommodations, and organisations I visit. To date, those reviews have been viewed more than 153,000 times. While some may see a review as only a few words on a screen, I see it as an opportunity to help a business increase its visibility, strengthen its reputation, and encourage others to support local enterprise. If my experience can help even one business grow, then it has been worthwhile.

The same philosophy inspired me to create Celebrating Existence. What began as a space to share reflections, experiences, and stories of hope has grown into a blog that has reached readers in 151 countries around the world. I have always believed that knowledge grows when it is shared, encouragement multiplies when it is given freely, and one positive message has the power to travel further than we could ever imagine.

Perhaps that is why attending THRIVE felt less like attending an event and more like witnessing a vision that closely mirrors my own.

Its focus on empowering people through knowledge, opportunity, innovation, and enterprise aligns perfectly with my own modus operandi. I have always believed that success is most meaningful when it creates opportunities for others. When we educate one person, we empower a family. When we support one entrepreneur, we strengthen a community. When we encourage innovation, we help build a stronger nation.

The event itself was exceptionally well organised and reflected thoughtful planning, professionalism, and purposeful leadership. It was encouraging to see an initiative that places people at the centre of development while providing aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners with practical resources, meaningful guidance, and renewed confidence.

Congratulations to MP Devesh Maharaj, NEDCO, and everyone whose vision, leadership, and dedication brought the THRIVE Entrepreneurial Initiative to life.

As I left the event, I did so with a renewed sense of optimism. I am confident that the THRIVE Entrepreneurial Initiative has the potential to become a tremendous success—not only by transforming individual lives, but by strengthening communities and contributing meaningfully to national development. Every entrepreneur who is empowered, every small business that grows, and every opportunity that is created has the power to generate a ripple effect that benefits us all.

The initiative also served as a gentle reminder to continue doing what I love most: teaching, consulting, writing, mentoring, and empowering others to recognise their potential and pursue opportunities they may never have imagined possible. Whether through education, communication, advocacy, or simply sharing knowledge and opening doors for others, I remain committed to helping people transform hope into confidence, confidence into action, and action into lasting success.

I look forward to seeing the many success stories that will emerge from the THRIVE Entrepreneurial Initiative in the years ahead. I have every confidence that it can become a model for community empowerment and economic growth, inspiring individuals not only to build successful businesses but also to believe in themselves and the value they can bring to society.

After all, when we invest in people, we don’t just create entrepreneurs.

We create confident leaders.

We strengthen communities.

And together, we build a brighter future.

Celebrating Twenty-Three Years of Blessings: The Karya Siddhi Hanuman Murti

June 9, 2003, marked a historic and blessed day for Trinidad and Tobago as His Holiness Param Pujya Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji consecrated the magnificent 85-foot Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman Murti at the Sri Dattatreya Yoga Centre in Carapichaima. Twenty-three years later, as the sun rises over Carapichaima devotees continue to gather in gratitude and devotion, celebrating the blessings, protection, and inspiration of Lord Hanuman.

For many of us, this is far more than an anniversary. It is an opportunity to reflect on the blessings, inspiration, and spiritual strength that Lord Hanuman has bestowed upon countless devotees over the past twenty-three years.

When His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji envisioned this magnificent murti, it was not merely to create a landmark. It was to establish a spiritual beacon—a place where devotees could find hope during difficult times, courage when faced with challenges, and faith when life’s path seemed uncertain. Today, that vision continues to flourish.

Standing majestically at the Sri Dattatreya Yoga Centre in Carapichaima, the 85-foot Karya Siddhi Hanuman Murti has become one of the most iconic Hindu monuments in the Western Hemisphere. Yet it’s true greatness cannot be measured in feet or metres. Its greatness lies in the countless prayers offered at its feet, the tears of gratitude shed by devotees whose prayers have been answered, and the enduring faith it has inspired across generations.

For twenty-three years, Lord Hanuman’s presence has reminded us of the qualities that define his divine character—unwavering devotion to God, selfless service, humility despite immense power, and the courage to overcome every obstacle in the pursuit of righteousness. These timeless virtues continue to guide devotees in Trinidad and Tobago and throughout the world.

The murti has also become a symbol of the remarkable journey of Hinduism in Trinidad and Tobago. It stands as a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our ancestors who carried their faith across oceans and planted its roots firmly in this land. Today, the murti welcomes thousands of visitors annually, serving as a bridge between cultures and a source of pride for our nation.

As we celebrate this 23rd anniversary, we offer our deepest gratitude to Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, whose divine vision and blessings made this sacred monument possible. We also honour the devotees, volunteers, donors, and well-wishers whose dedication transformed that vision into reality.

Most importantly, we bow in reverence to Lord Hanuman himself—the eternal servant of Lord Rama, the embodiment of devotion, and the remover of obstacles. May his blessings continue to protect our families, strengthen our communities, and inspire us to live lives of faith, service, and compassion.

The magnificent 85-foot Karya Siddhi Hanuman Murti is the realization of the divine vision of His Holiness Param Pujya Dr. Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, Founder of Avadhoota Datta Peetham. Envisioned as a beacon of faith, courage, and devotion, the murti was created to inspire generations of devotees and serve as a place of prayer, peace, and spiritual upliftment. On 9 June 2003, Sri Swamiji personally consecrated the murti, marking a historic milestone in the spiritual heritage of Trinidad and Tobago.

Bringing this sacred vision to life was Shilpi Kala Ratna T. Subramanian Sthapathi, the renowned master architect who designed and constructed the murti according to the timeless principles of Dravidian temple architecture and Shilpa Shastra. Together with a skilled team and the unwavering support of devotees, their combined efforts created one of the most iconic Hanuman monuments in the Western Hemisphere—an enduring symbol of devotion, divine grace, and the timeless teachings of Lord Hanuman.

Twenty-three years have passed since the sacred consecration ceremony, yet the murti continues to touch hearts and transform lives. As we celebrate this blessed occasion, may we recommit ourselves to the values Lord Hanuman represents and carry his teachings into our daily lives.

May Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman bless all with strength, wisdom, devotion, peace, and success in all righteous endeavours.

Jai Hanuman! Jaya Guru Datta! Sri Guru Datta!

Remembering the Day Life Changed Forever

There are certain moments in life that quietly divide everything into a before and after. Moments that arrive unexpectedly and reshape the way you see yourself, others and the world around you. For me, that day changed everything.

At first, it felt like confusion. Life suddenly became heavier in ways that were difficult to explain. Things I once did effortlessly now required more energy, more patience and more discipline. I began to understand that strength is not always loud or obvious. Sometimes strength is simply choosing to keep going while carrying battles no one else can fully see.

That season forced me into a different reality, one that demanded adjustment, resilience and self-awareness. It taught me how to slow down, listen to myself more carefully, protect my peace and value the small victories that many people often overlook. It was not the journey I would have chosen, but it became one of the greatest teachers of my life.

Along the way, I fought brave fights quietly and learned some of life’s hardest lessons. Lessons about endurance, patience, boundaries, self-worth and perseverance. Lessons that changed me, strengthened me and reminded me that growth is often born through discomfort and challenge.

Somewhere within the struggle, determination quietly grew. I discovered a version of myself that hardship revealed — stronger, wiser and far more resilient than I ever imagined. I learned how to continue showing up even on difficult days. I learned that perseverance is often built in silence.

Through it all, I remain deeply grateful for the love and support of my family and those within my circle. Their patience, understanding and encouragement reminded me that even during life’s hardest seasons, genuine support can make all the difference. Sometimes people may never fully understand what you carry, but the ones who truly care will still stand beside you anyway.

Perhaps too this is why I have learned to live with no regrets.

No one truly fits in your shoes but you. No one fully understands your battles, your thoughts, your fears or the strength it takes to keep moving forward. That is why I have learned the importance of being my own friend through every season of life — even on the days when life feels uncertain.

Be your own best friend to the very end.

Yes, while there were moments of frustration and exhaustion there were also moments of growth, clarity and unexpected beauty. Moments that reminded me that even after fire, something meaningful can still rise.

Sometimes I ask myself: am I the phoenix that rises from the ashes?

Maybe the answer is yes.

Not because the fire was easy, but because despite everything, I kept rising. Piece by piece. Day by day. I kept building and yes, I continue to do so as I have a lot more to do. I kept finding ways to move forward. I kept choosing hope, even in difficult moments.

Life has taught me that resilience is not about pretending to be unbreakable. It is about rebuilding yourself with greater wisdom, deeper compassion and quiet courage.

So now, I hold onto two reminders close to my heart: Carpe Diem — seize the day — and Semper Fi — always faithful. Faithful to hope, faithful to perseverance and faithful to the belief that even after life changes forever, there is still purpose, beauty and strength waiting to be found.

Celebrating 60 Years of Avadhoota Datta Peetham

On May 5, 2026, devotees around the world celebrated a truly special milestone — the 60th anniversary of Avadhoota Datta Peetham. This remarkable occasion marks six decades of spirituality, devotion, service and compassion that have touched the lives of countless people across generations and continents.

What began as a sacred spiritual mission has grown into a global source of faith, healing and guidance for devotees seeking peace, strength and a deeper connection to the divine. For many, Avadhoota Datta Peetham is far more than an institution or ashram. It is a spiritual home — a place where prayers are offered, traditions are preserved, hearts are comforted and lives are transformed.

At the center of this extraordinary journey is His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, whose teachings and humanitarian work continue to inspire millions around the world. Revered as a spiritual master, healer, humanitarian and guide, Sri Swamiji has dedicated His life to uplifting humanity through faith, compassion, discipline and selfless service.

The significance of Sri Swamiji’s presence within the lives of devotees cannot truly be measured. Through His wisdom and guidance, many have found hope during difficult times, peace during uncertainty and strength during personal struggles. His teachings remind devotees of the importance of humility, devotion, kindness and inner growth in everyday life.

One of the most unique aspects of Sri Swamiji’s mission has been His emphasis on healing through music and spirituality. Through Nada Yoga and devotional music, He has shown how sound, prayer and faith can bring emotional and spiritual balance to individuals and communities alike. Beyond spirituality, His humanitarian efforts through hospitals, charitable projects, educational initiatives and acts of seva (selfless service) have positively impacted countless lives.

Having the opportunity to visit Avadhoota Datta Peetham was an experience that is difficult to fully put into words. Each day was a blessing. Every temple, prayer space and sacred area carried deep spiritual significance and meaning. The serenity, peace and overwhelming sense of calm we experienced there made it feel less like visiting a place and more like returning home. It is Nada Mantapa, it is the Universal Prayer Hall,  it is Shuka Vana, it is the Bonsai Garden, it is Lord Venkateshwara Temple, it is Vishwak museum, it is the cows, the monkey, the birth pillars and every other aspect that makes it Heaven on Earth.

There was something incredibly comforting about the atmosphere — the prayers, the devotion, the discipline and the unity among devotees. It created a sense of belonging and spiritual connection that remains unforgettable. In a world that often feels rushed and chaotic, Avadhoota Datta Peetham offered a rare sense of stillness, reflection and inner peace.

The 60th anniversary of Avadhoota Datta Peetham is not simply a celebration of time passed, but a celebration of a living legacy built upon devotion, service and unity. It is a moment to reflect on how many people have been guided, healed and inspired through the Peetham’s mission over the past six decades.

It is also an opportunity to honor the dedication of devotees, volunteers and spiritual seekers around the world who have faithfully supported and carried forward these teachings throughout the years. Their unwavering devotion continues to strengthen the spiritual family that Avadhoota Datta Peetham has become.

In today’s fast-paced and often uncertain world, the Peetham remains a powerful reminder of the importance of faith, compassion, discipline and service to humanity. Its message continues to transcend borders, cultures and generations, bringing people together through spirituality and devotion.

As this historic milestone is celebrated, may the blessings and teachings of His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji continue to inspire hearts for many more generations to come. May Avadhoota Datta Peetham continue to shine as a beacon of peace, healing and divine grace for the world.

Jaya Guru Datta.

17 Promises I Choose to Live By : Then & Now

Truth be told this is my then followed by my now.

The then was created some 10 years ago:

My personal code of ethics: Statement of Purpose:

This is a personal guide which will serve as a source of inspiration and as a reminder of things I must always be mindful of, especially when I am faced with challenges. It will help me to realise my long-term goals and mirrors my beliefs and my values.

What function is this expected to serve in my life?

This will serve as a daily reminder of what I believe in and a source of encouragement that will help me to become a better well-rounded individual who endeavours to be happy, have peace of mind, and be the best that I can be. I sincerely promise to use the ‘I will’ list below to do that.

Personal Commitments

  1. I will remember, ‘Carpe diem!’ (Seize the day!) and let it be my motto.
  2. I will continue to treat others in the very same manner that I would like to be treated.
  3. I will continue to develop myself professionally.
  4. I will try to inculcate good values and morals in those I interface with (including those under my charge).
  5. I will always be mindful that some things cannot be changed; that is, not everything is within my reach, and I must accept them for what they are… simply, ‘Don’t worry about what you cannot change’ and ‘Qué sera sera!’ (Whatever will be will be).
  6. I will always thank God for my blessings. I have faced many challenges and overcome each of them—such as not being able to hold things, write properly at times, or walk properly. To date, I have 12 O’ Levels, 4 A’ Levels, a BA in English, and my BA in Mass Communication is my second degree. I have a full-time job now. I can look back and say I’m happy with some of the things I did and encourage others to turn their challenges into successes.
  7. I will continue to give credit where credit is due… everyone deserves to be appreciated.
  8. I will continue to move ahead with realistic goals. Thankfully, both my sense of maturity and being realistic have helped me value the relationships I build.
  9. I will continue to remember that everything happens for a reason… it makes it easier to walk around with less emotional baggage and eliminates chances of dumping it on others.
  10. I will continue fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to me because shirking responsibilities means denying others their rights.
  11. I will always do my best in all that I do rather than giving up before starting or giving up in the middle of what I am doing because the end will be closer in sight.
  12. I will always look for something positive out of every negative experience, and I will use the ‘scissors of life’ to cut out negativity. Negativity breeds negativity and vice versa.
  13. I will use great care, consideration, and dedication to my values and morals to find amicable solutions to problematic situations and ethical dilemmas by always considering the consequences of my actions as it relates to all my dealings and those affected.
  14. I will focus on improving my health and try to get the required amount of rest because if I do not take care of myself, I cannot take care of anyone needing my help.
  15. I will continue to develop my spirituality and be a devotee of God.
  16. I will try to exercise good judgment at all times.
  17. I will review my personal code of ethics periodically and strive to make necessary improvements where possible.

This is my now: Living My Personal Code of Ethics

Life is about the values that guide you through both the highs and the lows. My personal code of ethics isn’t just a list I wrote once; it’s something I try to live by every day.

At the core of everything is a simple mindset: Carpe diem—seize the day. I try to make the most of every opportunity while remembering to treat others the way I would like to be treated. Respect, kindness, and fairness are not optional; they are the foundation of every meaningful interaction.

Growth is also important to me. I continue to develop myself professionally while encouraging and guiding those I interact with, especially those under my care. At the same time, I’ve learned to accept that not everything is within my control. Some things simply are what they are, and finding peace in that—embracing the idea of “what will be, will be”—has helped me tremendously.

Gratitude plays a huge role in my life. Despite the challenges I’ve faced, I remain thankful. Those experiences have shaped me, strengthened me, and allowed me to encourage others to turn their struggles into success. They remind me that resilience is built, not given.

As I move forward, I focus on being realistic, appreciating others, and valuing the relationships I build. I remind myself that everything happens for a reason, which helps me let go of unnecessary emotional weight and avoid passing negativity on to others.

Responsibility is another principle I take seriously. Fulfilling what is entrusted to me matters because failing to do so affects others. That’s why I always strive to give my best, even when it’s difficult, because every step forward brings me closer to the end goal.

I also make a conscious effort to find positivity in every situation. Life will always present challenges, but I believe in cutting out negativity and choosing a mindset that promotes growth and peace.

In dealing with others, I aim to act with care, integrity, and fairness. Ethical decisions aren’t always easy, but considering the impact of my actions helps me navigate even the most difficult situations.

Equally important is taking care of myself. I’ve learned that I cannot pour into others if I am running on empty. Rest, health, and balance are not luxuries—they are necessities.

My spirituality continues to guide me, grounding me in faith and helping me stay aligned with my values. Alongside this, I strive to exercise good judgment in all that I do.

Finally, I remind myself that growth is ongoing. I revisit my values, reflect on my actions, and make adjustments where needed. Becoming better is a continuous process, not a final destination.

Embracing Humanity: The Beauty and Struggles of Being Human

Yes, you have read the title correctly, but can you recall words that stay with you? A wise soul once urged me to be careful. The exact words stay with me each day and guide me. I interpreted it as not living with regret, being my best friend, being responsible rather than reckless.

What does it mean to be human?

Being human is a gift worth celebrating. We are blessed with the ability to feel deeply, to create, to love, to dream, and to connect with one another. But being human also means facing challenges, misunderstandings, and sometimes the pain of not being treated as we deserve. It is in those moments that we are reminded of both the beauty and the complexity of the human experience.

Reality

Not everyone will treat us with kindness, fairness, or respect. Sometimes, this happens because people are struggling within themselves—they may be carrying burdens we cannot see, acting from hurt, insecurity, or fear. At other times, it may be because their values differ from ours or because they have not yet learned how to love or respect others.

While it can be painful, understanding this truth allows us to respond with wisdom rather than bitterness. I have learnt not to let it prevent me from being me and to focus on always being a better me.

Coping

Celebrating being human means embracing both the joys and the struggles. It means realizing that while we cannot control how others behave, we can choose how we respond. We can rise above negativity by holding on to kindness, standing firm in our worth, and not letting someone else’s actions define our self-value. It may not always be easy but remember, it’s also not impossible.

Tough choices

And sometimes, the healthiest response is distance. Choosing to step back from people who consistently hurt, belittle, or drain us is not wrong—it is self-respect. Protecting our peace does not mean we love less, it means we love ourselves enough to set boundaries. We can still wish others well, pray for them, and forgive them, but we don’t have to keep them close if their presence keeps us from growing or steals our joy.

Reflection

At the same time, being human also calls us to reflect on how we treat others. I believe in treating others as we would like to be treated. Are we living by the same respect, patience, and compassion we hope to receive? Are we being the example of love that we wish to see in the world? When we celebrate our humanity, we are not just grateful for our strengths—we are also humble about our flaws and committed to growth.

The truth is, every person we meet is on their own journey of learning. Some will bless us with love and encouragement. Others will test us with their actions and attitudes. Both are teachers. The ones who love us show us joy, and the ones who hurt us show us strength.

To celebrate being human is to embrace it all—the highs, the lows, the lessons, and the blessings. And when we understand why people don’t always treat us the way we deserve, we can choose not to let it break us, but instead allow it to shape us into more compassionate, resilient, and loving souls—while also remembering that it’s okay to walk away when necessary.

What can you do? Allow me to summarize what you can do on a daily basis, taking it step by step and bit by bit:

  • Focus on your self-care
  • Be your best friend
  • Find positives out of every negative
  • Keep your faith
  • Celebrate your milestones!
  • Be patient
  • Do not procrastinate
  • Be rooted in resilience

The question at the end of it all is, can you implement these suggestions? Also, what does embracing humanity mean to you? Please take the time to let me know and also take the time to share your suggestions!

Celebrating Time: Happy New Year 2025!

Hey everyone, Happy New Year and all the best to you and your loved ones in 2025!

As many of you know, I always say that I am eternally blessed, and I am forever grateful because I mean it! Recently, I have added moving forward with faith so it’s now: Eternally grateful, forever blessed and moving forward with faith.

Looking back at the past year, I am grateful for not giving up! I am grateful for my persistence, resilience, the love and support of those in my circle, opportunities to create memorable moments and blessings from the Divine Master.

I am not saying that it wasn’t a year with challenges, but I am not dwelling on them. It was a year of valuable learning, experiences and growth. While I didn’t run from challenges, I have learnt the value of taking the time to put things into context, get clarity and take it bit by bit and step by step, one moment at a time.

What are some of my wins?

  1. Being able to spread positivity, one person at a time. This blog, Celebrating Existence, is now in 143 countries, it is being viewed daily, and it has 26k viewers.
  2. On TikTok I have been sharing positive messages via rachaelathomasj and I have generally been consistent.
  3. My YouTube channel continues to grow.
  4. Additions to my Time to Travel to Trinidad and Tobago were made.
  5. I completed the script for a play entitled Shattered Dreams and Silver Linings which is due to be staged in Barbados this year. The play itself is based on a storyline very close to my heart and seeks to bring awareness and a need for persons to look out for each other. It focuses echoes so many things, primarily that things can change in a split second, not everything can be fixed and brings together a focus on health, family, personal struggles just to name a few, reminding us of two things I always say- no one can fit in your shoes the way you do and tomorrow is promised to no one.
  6. Being able to deal with some tough situations, knowing that I did the right thing, so even I can say, I did it my way!
  7. Being saved from a catastrophic situation where one job opportunity could have placed my family in harm’s way. Thankfully the Divine Master protected us and took care of us as always.

This being said, I wish each and every one of you and your beautiful families a joyful, peaceful, and love-filled New Year! May this coming year bring gentle moments, shared laughter, healing, new beginnings, and the kind of happiness that lingers in your heart. May your homes be filled with warmth, your days with purpose, and your lives with blessings beyond measure. Here’s to new memories, stronger bonds, and all the magic this fresh chapter holds—Happy New Year!

Celebrating existence- action in the face of ill action!

Oh yes, in this post I am celebrating action in the face of inaction, so you definitely read it correctly! Sometimes I feel stunted into silence! Why? Honestly at times it’s difficult to say it is just one reason, but I know writing this post creates an avenue many may be able to relate to!

Does it mean I am doing no more writing? By all means no!

Some very wise souls imparted knowledge that have surely helped me get where I am at present!

One was, “Keep writing!”

Another was to find a positive in every negative and to carefully think through each decision.

Through and through those have kept me going! These and the love and support of my circle. Some days it feels smaller than other days but keeping my focus on those who need me has been of paramount importance!

Surely at times some of these things must have crossed your mind:

1. Those who have said things about you!

2. Those who track every step you take and make an issue of it!

3. Those who judge you incorrectly because they don’t know you!

4. Those who can’t handle your energy!

5. Those who drain your energy!

Honestly, I have had my fair share, but such is life! There is more to come because this is the story of life!

And yes, if I got a dollar for every rotten thing that happened, no doubt, I would be a millionaire but that’s not my focus – just my way of laughing at some of the curve balls that have come my way.

But the reality is, people will always talk about you. Some do it to feel better about themselves, others do it because it disturbs them!

Keep your focus more than anything! Always focus on being a better version of yourself and always ensure that you do not let anyone distract you from your goals!

Those who cannot handle your energy will find every reason to stay away from you! They will also try to deter you in every way but never be so focused that you cannot see what you need to do rather than what you want to do. That’s the difference between being focused and being so self-absorbed that you cannot see what is right in front of you or you cannot see things for what they are.

Do not let anyone drain your energy. Your energy is just as precious as your time. More than anything do not give up! Focus on making memorable moments! Rise in the face of adversity and remember you are not alone!

This was something I coined as a verse:

“Little grains of water

Little grains of sand

Make the mighty ocean

And the mighty land.”

The aim of this is to always be reminded that no one and nothing is insignificant. Do not let anyone make you feel less than a person. If they do that to you, don’t think you need to repay the favour. Never underestimate your worth and your contribution.

From me to you: keep your focus! Love life and live life!

Celebrating Life’s Lessons through the eyes of Experience!

Hey everyone, yes, I am celebrating life’s lessons, and I am celebrating it through the eyes of experience. Certainly, life presents us with so many challenges that sometimes it comes one after the other, but one of the important things is keeping our faith and not giving up!

Easier said than done, right?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not here to tell you I know what you are going through, or to tell you to get over it or to tell you that your challenges are insignificant! That is not me, it was never me and would never be me, and I can assure you that. I believe in treating people as you would like to be treated and I always do my best to help others.

One thing that I always say and those who know me can attest to it is that no one can ever stand in your shoes and fully say they understand what you are going through because there is only one you and a pair of shoes doesn’t fit any two people the same way. The same adjectives may be used like ‘comfortable’ or ‘uncomfortable’ but that’s as close as it gets.

What I do however is share positivity as best as I can with the hope my messages can reach people the world over! This blog is one medium, then there are my social media pages and my most recent addition has been TikTok. Here is my TikTok link for those who want to visit it, https://www.tiktok.com/@rachaelathomasj . I also urge you to think about these five things!

  1. Not everyone will like you! In this life, people will be bothered by your success, your achievements, your disposition, your beliefs, your finances, your appearance and your happiness just to name a few.
  2. Not everyone lives up to their word! Often times we would realize this is more real than we expect.  Many times people show us what they want us to see! They are about appearances, using flowery language and what we would call, ‘mamagism’.  (Re: Dictionary.com to deceive or tease/ (ˈmɑːməˌɡaɪ) Caribbean / verb. to deceive or tease, either in jest or by deceitful flattery.) They say what they think you want to hear and think that’s okay rather than be honest.
  3. Some people don’t realize the more they lie, the more difficult it becomes to tell the truth. It becomes so bad in some cases, that even they begin to believe their own lies.
  4. Some people do not realize that karma is real. It’s not about wishing anyone bad but asking people to apply Sir Isaac Newton’s third law of motion, “To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction,” to karma, with the full realization that there is a distinct parallel between the both.
  5. People love to create illusions. They don’t realize illusions can be shattered in a split second.

This being said, I sincerely hope these help you!

  1. You don’t need everyone to like you! Your circle may be small but those people you need in your life will be there.
  2. Always use what you know to guide you through your reasoning. Also, don’t change who you are unless it is to become a better version of yourself.
  3. Lies don’t survive. The truth eventually comes out. Just don’t let anyone insult your intelligence, take advantage of you or underestimate your worth.
  4. Always be good and do good! Don’t stoop to anyone’s level! Remember that God always takes care of His children!
  5. Remember sometimes when people choose to be ridiculous, know you just don’t have to respond. I am not saying that should not defend yourself or let others walk over you but sometimes silence pays and trust me, you would know when you should be silent and not expend your energy. Some individuals are so self-absorbed that they cannot see how they are destroying others or hurting them. Don’t subject yourself to insults and by all means if you can, use the scissors of life to cut toxic people out of your life.

In closing, don’t give up! Always believe in yourself! Sometimes, it may not be easy but always know you are not alone!
